The Brand

Founded during the height of lockdown in 2020, Not Basics started out with an innovative idea of transforming deadstock into usable products, namely t-shirt waste into underwear. A fantastic idea that was initially met with cynicism, the co-founders not only turned their vision into a reality successfully – but they continued to grow, evolve and adapt over the next four years where they would then have an extremely successful thriving brand and dedicated customer base.

Starting out as Pantee – over the course of the past four years they have transformed their brand into something so far from basic that they needed a brand name to reflect that. Their innovative ideas and passion for sustainability has created a brand which is adored by customers.

The Challenge

Prior to working with SCEND, Not Basics had been working alongside a different 3PL that wasn’t quite ticking all of the right boxes. As a fashion brand with sustainability at its core, they needed a 3PL that would offer optimised re-work services, accurate and trackable stock updates, and excellent communication, something that with their previous eCommerce fulfilment provider, they weren’t quite getting.

When switching to SCEND, Not Basics had been looking for a partner that could provide a better service that was more apparel-specific and had experience working with high SKU quantity businesses while maintaining stock accuracy, impeccable service for their customers, and alignment with their sustainability goals.

Why Not Basics chose SCEND!

When looking for a 3PL, Not Basics needed a partner that would be exactly that. SCEND offered an approach which would provide a “partnership with an ownership mindset – like an extension of our team, they brought many ideas to the table of how we could improve to provide a more seamless fulfilment experience and end-to-end customer experience.” Their co-founder stated that; “from the get-go, we felt a synergy with the team at SCEND. Higher re-integration of stock after returns.

Having a returns process which not only allowed for a quick turnaround when it comes to getting funds back into customers’ accounts – but also included a top-quality rework process was one of the non-negotiables when it came to a 3PL. At SCEND we ensure that our returns process focuses on both the customer and our client making sure that both parties benefit from what is often seen as one of the negative sides to eCommerce. Having a stringent rework process in place has allowed us to ensure that stock (once appropriately quality-controlled) is back on shelves and ready for resale ensuring a reduction in lost revenue due to reverse logistics.

Optimised goods in process to eliminate issues from the start.

After initial onboarding it was clear that there were some issues which had come up with barcoding of stock. This was something that SCEND ensured to combat head on resulting in a more streamlined inventory management process, and a drastic reduction in incorrect orders being sent to customers. Using our triple checked warehousing system alongside our automated paperless pick and pack – we were able to completely transform the experience into a smooth operation which had customers at the heart of it.
